FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you use recycled metals?
AT Olivia Ware we use 100% recycled metals in all our pieces.
Is the jewellery handmade?
Yes, our pieces are handmade in Melbourne.
Would you recommend 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold for longetivity?
When considering gold for longevity, 18ct gold is typically the best choice. This is because it contains a higher percentage of pure gold (75%) compared to other carat grades, making it both beautiful and durable. Its higher gold content means it is less likely to tarnish or wear away over time. It offers a great balance between purity and strength, making it an ideal option for daily wear. On the other hand, 9ct gold contains a higher proportion of non-precious metals, which makes it less dense. As a result, it is more prone to tarnishing, scratching, and even cracking with time, especially if exposed to harsh conditions or frequent wear. It is not as durable as 18ct gold, and its lower gold content means it won't retain the same luster and strength over the years. 14ct gold is a great middle ground, with 58.3% pure gold content. It provides a balance of durability and affordability, offering better strength than 9ct, while still maintaining a significant amount of gold. It is a good choice for those looking for a compromise between cost and longevity, offering good wear resistance without the higher price tag of 18ct gold.
How To Care For Your Metals
In the case of a lack of shine or any small scratches which can come from natural day to day wear, a small polishing cloth should help to restore your piece. To clean your jewellery at home, we recommend soaking it in warm soapy water and buffing dry with a soft cloth. Any exposure of your metals to chemicals such as chlorine, ammonia, bleach, sanitisers, perfumes, salt water, hair sprays and creams, can damage them. We recommend that you remove your jewellery during physical activityand keep your jewellery stored away from sunlight, heat and moisture in a protective jewellery pouch or box.
